Talking about finances can be a scary thing when it comes to cancer. As a Patient Financial Advocate at NCS, my role allows me to provide resources to patients regarding financial assistance and communicate with patients, caregivers and providers to reduce financial strain.

“After my father was diagnosed with cancer I knew I wanted to work with oncology patients and help with the struggles they go through. There is nothing better than seeing the relief on a person’s face when they know we can help them and that we will be with them every step of the way.”

As a patient financial advocate and certified Medicare counselor, some of the services I provided include:

• Answering questions regarding billing, insurance and claims
• Reviewing insurance coverage, Medicare plans and drug plans
• Discussing out of pocket costs and deductibles
• Researching financial assistance programs and drug costs
• Setting up payment plans
• Providing comfort and support

Outside of my role at NCS, I enjoy family vacations, watching my three daughter’s sporting events, spending time with friends and family, exercising and going on walks with my dog Tucker.
