Community Celebrates More Than 1,000 Cancer Survivors and Supporters at Annual Drive-Thru Breakfast
On June 5, Nebraska Cancer Specialists (NCS) welcomed more than 1,000 cancer survivors, family members, caregivers, friends, healthcare professionals, and community supporters to its annual National Cancer Survivors Day Drive-Thru Breakfast celebration across six locations in Nebraska.
The event, held in Omaha, Papillion, Fremont, Grand Island, and Kearney, was designed to honor anyone living with a history of cancer. 
Throughout the morning, vehicles streamed through each location as volunteers distributed free breakfast sandwiches, goodie bags, and educational information about cancer prevention and NCS services. The highlight of the event was the opportunity to celebrate the strength, resilience, and hope represented by those impacted by cancer.
Volunteers greeted guests with music, pom-poms, smiles, and words of encouragement. The energy was contagious as survivors honked their horns, waved to volunteers, and shared moments of gratitude with the teams who helped make the event possible.
The celebration wasn’t limited to just people. Countless four-legged companions joined the festivities as families brought their dogs along for the ride. Volunteers also handed out dog treats and earned plenty of tail wags along the way.
“This event is one of our favorites because it gives us the opportunity to celebrate our survivors and thank the communities we are so proud to serve,” said Kelly Horn, Director of Marketing and Community Outreach. “Cancer affects entire families and support systems, and today is a chance to recognize everyone who walks alongside a survivor on their journey.”
Nebraska Cancer Specialists extends its heartfelt thanks to everyone who attended, volunteered, and supported the event. Together, we celebrated survivorship and reinforced that no one faces cancer alone.
