Nurse Case Managers at Nebraska Cancer Specialists work closely with our medical oncologists and are a patient’s first point of contact between visits. They assist with symptom management and field questions or concerns. Patients are encouraged to reach out to them by calling the clinic. A trained operator will take the call and notify the correct nurse case manager immediately.
In addition to our nurse case managers, to ensure our patients receive timely and appropriate responses to their phone calls, Nebraska Cancer Specialists has an Oncology trained triage RN. Triage nurses answers calls from patients with symptoms or other related questions. Triage nurses can perform an assessment of symptoms over the phone, and work directly with a patient’s care team to provide the answers and education regarding the question or how to manage the symptoms they are experiencing.
