About Yungpo Bernard Su MD, FACP
I am a board certified medical oncologist, with subspecialty expertise in the treatment of Head & Neck cancers as well as Esophagus cancer. Before joining Nebraska Cancer Specialists, I was on faculty at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City, where I helped establish the Head & Neck Medical Oncology Service. I completed my fellowship at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, and served there as a Chief Resident as well. I completed my Internal Medicine training at NYU Medical Center/Bellevue Hospital Center in New York City, where I also attended medical school.
I moved to Omaha in 2006 to join Nebraska Cancer Specialists. My family has been deeply affected by cancer. It is a privilege to partner with patients and their loved ones. We identify each patient’s personal goals of care, and in a shared fashion determine the best course of action to treat their cancer, using the most state-of-the-art treatments including clinical trial therapies.
I am married to author Lydia Kang, who is also a physician. We have three children and two dogs, ShihPoo Piper and YorkiPoo Sawyer. In my spare time, I am learning how to repair vintage watches, bake sourdough bread, and enjoy playing tennis.

We are so happy that we were referred to Bergan Mercy!! The only problem that we had was finding where we were supposed to be going. We used google maps to find the hospital. I would put in the address that we needed to go to, the name of the building, all the information I could think of and both times we came to Bergan, we were directed to the back of a hospital building on Pacific. The first time we were there, we parked a long distance from the Procedure Center where we were going. We asked a nurse that was coming in for work if she could tell us how to get there. She said she could not tell us how to get there, she was going to walk us there!!! One more thing....I received a Thank You card from the staff in the GI unit thanking me for letting them take care of me!!! Hand signed by all the girls!!

Dr. Su always makes sure to answer EVERY question- no matter what. It is clear he cares enough to make sure there is no confusion in what the results revealed and what our next steps will be. As I stated, I have anxiety and I come with a lot of questions, but he never makes me feel as if any of them are silly or not important. Dr. Su is the model of what all doctors should be.
