Pet Therapy Proving That Comfort Comes in All Forms

Through the NCS HOPE Foundation’s Canines for Comfort Program, certified therapy dogs bring joy, companionship and emotional support to individuals and families impacted by cancer.

Sometimes, comfort comes with four paws, a wagging tail and a friendly face.

For individuals and families navigating a cancer diagnosis, moments of joy and connection can make a meaningful difference. Recognizing the importance of emotional well-being throughout the cancer journey, the NCS HOPE Foundation has introduced its Canines for Comfort Program, offering free pet therapy visits to individuals and families impacted by cancer.

In partnership with Paws for Friendship, Inc., the program brings certified therapy animals and their handlers together with members of the community in a welcoming, relaxing environment. These special visits offer an opportunity to step away from the challenges of treatment and recovery, enjoy the companionship of a furry friend and simply experience a moment of happiness.

Caring Beyond Cancer Treatment

At Nebraska Cancer Specialists, compassionate care extends beyond medical treatment. Through programs like Canines for Comfort, the NCS HOPE Foundation helps address the emotional and social needs of individuals and families affected by cancer.

The program reflects a simple but powerful belief: caring for the whole person means recognizing the importance of connection, comfort and moments of joy along the way.

Sometimes, the smallest interactions can leave the biggest impressions. And sometimes, a little unconditional love is exactly what someone needs.
