About Ralph Hauke MD, FACP
My hometown is Colon, Panama which is on the north entrance of the Canal. I graduated from the University Of Panama School of Medicine. After a few years in primary care, I decided to enter the field of oncology due to my personal family experience as well as the exciting research opportunities and challenges it presented. Upon completing my oncology fellowship at UNMC, I developed the urologic oncology program at that institution, focusing my clinical and research interests in tumors of the prostate, kidney, bladder and testes. This tenure included developing the immunotherapy program with high dose IL-2 for the treatment of kidney cancer and melanoma. I also served as the chief of oncology at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital (Omaha), was a committee member that developed the national treatment guidelines of the NCCN for prostate and kidney cancers and served on the CALGB urologic oncology subcommittee.
I enjoy spending time with my wife and son. I love to watch soccer, and when time allows outdoor activities such as biking, hiking and camping. I also like to play chess and read books. I was an avid stamp collector and chess player when I lived in Panama. I lived through the U.S. invasion of Panama and my Internship took me to remote areas of Panama including flying to remote jungle villages on Huey helicopters to paddling in canoes in rivers to help people.

My practice includes the treatment of benign blood disorders as well as all malignancies, although I continue with focused expertise in prostate, kidney, bladder and testicular tumors. I am actively engaged in research, both clinical and laboratory-based, and have written many of my own clinical trials.

- My care since 2016 by Ralph has been excellent. It's over 5 years now with today being my last appointment to the Cancer Center. How do you say Thanks to a doctor like Dr. Ralph Hauke, someone who devised a Treatment that literally saved My Life from Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma Large B Cell Double Hit. So many different types of cancer. Amazing how a doctor can get just the right combination or formula to combat this cancer is truly Outstanding and Life Saving. I will remember Dr. Hauke forever and Thankful so many cancer patients will be Blessed to have Dr. Hauke treat them, along with so many other highly qualified cancer doctors working through Legacy.
- Sometimes I don't get to see my doctor and they send in a physician assistant and they get confused on my treatment. ( lack of communication)
- The visit itself was excellent....the online check in seemed excessive....asking questions about my health care coverage etc. I should just acknowledge I will be at my appointment day and time or I will not be period.
- I was called within a few minutes of my arrival and taken to an exam room. I then waited a full hour in the exam room before the doctor came to examine me. I suggest that you consider finding ways to better manage your patients' wait time.

I appreciated everyone being on time and efficient. My time was somewhat limited in that I traveled 200 miles for this appointment and wanted to be on my way home as soon as possible. Plus lunch was starting to be on my mind. Thank you to everyone for an enjoyable and professional visit. That's all I want.

- After checking in today, it was about 15-20 minutes until we were called to go back and have temperature and blood pressure taken.
- The minute I walk in thru treatment,, I feel welcomed as if I were home. The staff great me and takes care of needs and make me comfortable. If I have to be sick, I can't think of a better place to be.

- I have had good communication pathways between NE Cancer physicians and other physicians caring for me from other facilities. The nurses always (!!!) communicated with me and stayed in the loop about these activities, coordinated appointments and sharing laboratory and other data. That made this process very smooth. And people now call me by my first name, now that I've been coming to NE Cancer Specialists facilities for 18 months.
