Interventional Radiology (IR)

uses minimally invasive, image-guided procedures to diagnose and treat cancer and other conditions without major surgery.

At NCS, the IR team works closely
with a patient’s medical oncology care team
and plays an important role in the diagnosis
and the treatment of cancer.

Interventional Radiologist

Interventional Radiologists are specially
trained medical professionals who use
imaging techniques like ultrasounds, CT
scans, or MRIs to guide small tools, such as
needles or tubes, directly to the affected
area.

IR providers can deliver cancer treatments
like chemotherapy or radioactive medicines
directly to tumors or destroy cancer cells with
techniques like heating or freezing.
