Small Wins During Treatment

When you’re going through cancer treatment, the milestones don’t always come with balloons or fanfare. But they should.

At Nebraska Cancer Specialists, we’re big believers in celebrating the small stuff — the everyday victories that mean everything when you’re in the thick of the fight.

What does a small win look like?

  • Getting out of bed on a hard day.
  • Eating something that finally tastes good again.
  • Making it to your appointment even when your body says “nope.”
  • Laughing — truly, belly-laughing — with your nurse.
  • Finishing a puzzle in the waiting room.
  • Sending the “all done for today” text to your support person.

These moments may not seem like much from the outside, but they’re everything on the inside. They’re proof that you’re showing up. They’re signs that your spirit is strong, even when your body is tired.

We love when patients finish treatment, of course — it’s joyful and powerful! But we also celebrate the quiet wins. The personal ones. The “I did it anyway” moments.

So if today didn’t feel like a good day, but you still showed up — that’s a win.

If you cried and then dried your tears and made it to your next step — that’s a win.

And if you’re reading this, breathing in and out, and taking it one day at a time — you, friend, are winning.

We see you. We celebrate you. And we’re cheering you on through every brave little moment.
