What to Bring to Treatment
Walking into your first treatment appointment can feel a little overwhelming — what do you bring?
How long will you be there? Do you need your entire Netflix watchlist or just a cozy blanket and a good book? We’ve got you.
Here’s a helpful list of things that can make your time during treatment more comfortable, calm, and even a little cozy:
1. Layers, Layers, Layers
Treatment rooms can be chilly, so bring a soft blanket, hoodie, or even fuzzy socks — because comfort is always in style.
2. Snacks and Water
Bring easy-to-eat, mild snacks like crackers, trail mix, or applesauce pouches (yes, grown-ups love them too). Staying hydrated is key — a fun water bottle doesn’t hurt either.
3. Entertainment
Whether it’s an audiobook, headphones and a playlist, a crossword puzzle book, or your favorite streaming service, time passes faster when you’re engaged.
4. A Buddy
Sometimes, the best comfort item is a familiar face. Ask if a loved one can come along for support.
5. A Notebook or Journal
Jot down questions, notes from your provider, or even just thoughts that pop into your head — treatment days can be emotional.
6. Chargers
Nothing is worse than a phone dying mid-episode. Bring a fully charged device and a power bank or wall plug just in case.
7. Your Medical Info
Always keep insurance cards, ID, and a med list handy — just in case you need to reference them.
Most importantly, bring your bravery, your hope, and the knowledge that you’re never walking this road alone. Your NCS team is here every step of the way — with warm blankets, encouraging words, and maybe even a few snacks of our own.
