Introducing DOTober
At Nebraska Cancer Specialists, we dedicate the month of October to raising awareness about cancer, and we call it DOTober! This special time is focused on educating the community about the importance of early detection, especially for breast cancer, which is more treatable when caught early.
During DOTober, we encourage women to schedule mammograms and stay vigilant about their health. Early detection through screenings like mammograms can significantly improve survival rates and open up more treatment options. This month also serves as a reminder of the importance of routine screenings for other cancers, such as colorectal, lung, and prostate cancers.
DOTober is not just about awareness, though. It’s about community, support, and hope. We highlight inspiring survivor stories, offer educational resources, and provide support for those currently undergoing treatment. Through events and social media campaigns, we aim to reach as many people as possible with the message that cancer screenings save lives.
