Supportive Care is whole-person care for patients experiencing serious illness, with a focus on providing relief from symptoms and stress caused by diagnosis and treatment.
Considered an extra layer of care, the supportive care clinic is provided by a specially-trained team who work closely with a patient’s medical care team to ensure patients and families are reaching goals for preventing and relieving symptoms of cancer and treatment, maximizing quality of life, and addressing physical and emotional needs.

Supportive care visits are tailored to what’s most important to the patient and family. Our services include:
Kathleen McKillip |
Jessica Johnson |
Jami Kezeor |
NCS supportive care clinic is available at a variety of locations in Omaha, Grand Island, and Hastings, and also available via Telehealth.
Supportive care appointments will be covered by your insurance in the same manner as other clinic visits.
Supportive care may be right for patients experiencing pain, stress, or other symptoms due to serious illness. Supportive care is beneficial at any stage of illness. Supportive care does not replace active treatment of your illness nor is it hospice care.
Through collaboration, your medical oncology care team and supportive care team will combine efforts to provide symptom management and treatment plans based on your goals.
You can expect to communicate with a medical provider in-person or via telehealth regarding symptoms, goals, and answers to your questions.
Is there anything I can do on my own so that I don't feel for tired? YES!
Here's a message to help you understand what a supportive care visit includes and what to expect from Dr. McKillip.
One important part of cancer care and treatment is to relieve side effects, including pain.

Most insurance plans pay for the care, including Medicare and Medicaid sponsored health care plans. If you have concerns regarding the cost of care, please notify your medical oncology care team.
