Our board-certified medical oncologists and hematologists, Dr. Sarah Creamer, Dr. David Crockett, and Dr. Ryan Ramaekers joined Nebraska Cancer Specialists’ existing group of 12 board-certified medical oncologists, one nuclear medicine physician, one radiation oncologist and more than 230 dedicated oncology professionals. The three central Nebraska providers will continue to work out of the Regional Cancer Center on the CHI Health St. Francis campus as well as in the existing cancer center in the Hastings Landmark Center. NCS will begin building a full service cancer clinic this fall at the Grand Island Regional Medical Center.
About Sarah Creamer MDRaised in rural South Dakota, Dr. Sarah Creamer has found her time in central Nebraska to be like coming home. With a family history of cancer, she knows the importance of excellent, compassionate care on the cancer journey. One of her greatest goals during consultation is education which allows patients and their families to join her in the decision-making process. By reviewing national guidelines and clinical trial options, she works together with patients and their families to reach the best decision in their care.
When she is not at work, Dr. Creamer loves being mom to her 3 children. She is a classically-trained pianist and vocalist who can sometimes be heard playing the grand piano in the Grand Island NCS infusion center. She also dabbles in gardening and enjoys traveling with her family.
About David Crockett MDDr. David Crockett is a board certified hematologist and medical oncologist in central Nebraska. He graduated from Creighton University and completed both his Residency and Fellowship at University of Nebraska Medical Center. Through the Fulbright U.S. Student program, Dr. Crockett was fortunate to have lived in Barcelona and is fluent in Spanish.
Empathy and good communication are important to Dr. Crockett in order to deliver excellent care alongside his medical knowledge and expertise. Advancements are being made every day and he enjoys staying on top of new treatment options and available trials for patients.
Outside of providing patient care, Dr. Crockett enjoys traveling, listening to sci-fi and self-improvement audio books, watching soccer and spending time with his wife, Libby, and their two young children.

About Ryan Ramaekers MDDr. Ramaekers has always been drawn to oncology because of the close relationships he develops with patients. He enjoys caring for the entire spectrum of a patient’s needs, focusing not only on their physical health but also on their mental, emotional, and spiritual health. His commitment to every patient is to treat them with the same compassion and respect he would give a friend or family member and hope to empower them to be an active decision-maker in their cancer journey.
Originally from Fairfield, a small town in central Nebraska, and ever since his high school years at Sandy Creek, he planned on becoming a physician and practicing in rural Nebraska. He attended undergraduate college at Nebraska Wesleyan University, and then went on to medical training with medical school, internal medicine residency, and medical oncology/hematology fellowship at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. His career began as a board certified medical oncologist and hematologist in Grand Island in 2009 and he is fully committed to spending his entire career serving the patients of central Nebraska.
Dr. Ramaekers and his wife have six wonderful children, three boys and three girls (as well as Buddy, their Goldendoodle). He enjoys nature photography, basketball, woodworking, fishing, and traveling. As a family, their goal is to eventually see all 63 National Parks. He has found over the years that keeping a nice balance with his own work, family, physical, emotional, and spiritual life helps him deliver empathetic, attentive, and compassionate care.
“We are excited to become an independent practice to allow us more flexibility in serving our patients and referring providers from any facility in central Nebraska. We could not have chosen a better group than Nebraska Cancer Specialists. This collaboration will allow us to continue providing exceptional medical oncology care to our current and future patients,” said Dr. Ramaekers. “We are looking forward to bringing new technology, such as their nuclear medicine theranostics program, and more clinical trials than we have ever been able to offer our patients in central Nebraska.”
Nebraska Cancer Specialists currently has locations throughout Omaha, in Papillion and Fremont, with outreach locations in West Point and Pender. “Our independent practice model has allowed us to provide care in a wide variety of settings over the years and has allowed us to adapt to the needs of our patients and colleagues,” said Dr. Robert Langdon, NCS President.
“The new partnership is yet another way Nebraska Cancer Specialists is growing to meet the needs of patients and families across the state,” said Danielle Geiger, NCS Practice Administrator. “Our focus has always been to offer patients compassionate and cutting-edge care, and we are excited to bring this approach to the Grand Island and Hastings area. We think this philosophy of care will resonate well with the community.”
Current patients do not need to take any action. NCS and CHI Health are working to make sure this transition occurs smoothly without any disruption of patient care. If you have any questions about the new collaboration or any questions about the patient care services, please contact Nebraska Cancer Specialists at 402-334-4773.

| There are two types of oncology practices that provide care in the outpatient setting: community oncology and hospital-based oncology.
